Dr Gary Howsam
Gary is a front-line GP Partner at the newly formed Octagon Medical Super-Practice, with 155K patients based in and around Peterborough. Originally he trained as a dentist, before returning to medical school, with the intention of doing maxillo-facial surgery. He has been working in General Practice since 2005, in salaried, partnership, trainer and out of hours roles. He was one of the lead GPs for the formation of the ‘Greater Peterborough Network’, a federation of 29 GP practices who are working together to develop and trial different ways of working; to improve access and patient care, and to make the job of GP’s and their teams more sustainable.
Gary has been Chair of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG’s Governing Body since July 2016 and he is also Vice Chair of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP) Board, Vice Chair of the Peterborough Health and Wellbeing Board and Senior Clinical Tutor at the University of Cambridge.
